Gum Disease Treatment in Mexico

The ADA describes Periodontics as a dental specialty focusing exclusively in the inflammatory disease that destroys the gums and other supporting structures around the teeth. A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in periodontics, which prevents, diagnosis, and treats this disease, and in the placement of dental implants.

Periodotitis is a very common infection of gum and bone tissue surrounding the teeth. Most people do not realize they have this problem until a dentist brings it to their attention.

Additionally, an individual who has poor oral hygiene and or diet smokes, or is highly stressed, may be more vulnerable to this gum disease. This is caused by the build-up of plaque on a patient’s teeth and gums. If the condition is left untreated, the gum tissue becomes red, swollen and begins to bleed. Permanent bone loss may result if a patient doesn’t seek immediate care. When one of our Denticenter Periodontics specialists sees early on, this can be treated properly, and it is possible to keep those teeth that may have otherwise been lost to periodontitis.

What to know about the procedure

There are many treatment options available for this disease, depending on the severity. The first level periodontics care consists of scaling, root planing and antibiotics. Our periodontics,  as specialists in periodontal disease, they are experts in the latest techniques for diagnosing and treating periodontal disease. They are also trained in cosmetic periodontal procedures.

Scaling is a process where the dentist removes tartar and bacteria from the tooth’s surface as well as under the gum line. Root planing smooths the root’s surface and discourages continued build up of tartar. In certain cases, antibiotics may be prescribed as well to combat infection after treatment.
